Known for riding off the front of group rides only to be caught in the first mile, we got back on a road bike and realized he must win the Donut Derby at least once in his life. Regularly pledging we’re "not climbers," we can be found as a regular attendee of Trexlertown's Thursday Night Training Criterium or sitting on the couch watching Paris-Roubaix reruns. We have been constant riders of the Hell of Hunterdon in New Jersey and raced the Tour of the Battenkill.

Review: Rise Up Organic French Roast Coffee

(2021) If it’s coffee in July, it must be French roast to complement the Tour de France. Set the grinder to 18, retrieve the French press from the cupboard, and put the kettle on. This single origin is so flavorful, it kicked its elbows out to get placed on the Whole Foods Market shelf. With free trade beans from Guatemala, Honduras, and Sumatra, this blend is tasty hot or cold.

If one is so lucky to have a free day, it is impressed upon to consider watching Tour coverage from start to finish. In the eastern United States the coverage starts early in the morning and continues almost past noon. Here is where the French roast coffee carries the day - put on the pot in the morning for homeliness, let the warming plate shut off, add ice cubes to the cooled coffee to refresh the final kilometers. Rise Up Organic French Roast Coffee is up to the task of a Tour de France stage beverage.

Rise Up Coffee is a Delmarva roaster that has flirted with cult status. Their location - specifically the one in Rehoboth Beach, DE - constantly has a line of eager customers. Their location was once a convenience store, proving that the right blend of labeling and quality content can make a location work. And with a shelf full of options such as 12-ounce bags (stage highlights), two pound bags (prime time coverage), or five pound bags (watching every minute of the Tour from start to finish), Rise Up serves up coffee beans at every amount.

Every bag of Rise Up coffee produces an inviting aroma, percolating the idea that more should be made later in the day. The French Roast label delivers with bold flavor and delightful aftertaste. This is that punch needed to carry the day. When getting French roast, it is mandatory to get maximum flavor quickly. Rise Up’s blend has the right amount of flavor with acidity, yet the beans lack the oily residue from most dark roasts. This is a satisfying roast even if it’s a hot summer day outside.

Not wanting to let Rise Up coffee go to waste, and not wanting to reheat the brew, we have taken to pouring leftovers over ice. Here is where the beans shine in a different way. The intense flavor pulls through again. All that is left is satisfaction, both warm and cold.

Rise Up is one of the few roasters offering two-pound bags of beans, a move that sets them apart from others. Always seeking out other roasts, sometimes twelve ounces isn’t enough. Here is where Rise Up gets us with the two pound bag. During our recent visit to Rehoboth Beach, we stocked up on other roasts in the two-pound category. Having French Roast available at that amount is the right move, and with their roasts available online, Rise Up Coffee is just a click away.

With ample time remaining in the Tour de France, now is the time to order up some Rise Up Organic French Roast Coffee for your viewing pleasure. If you are unable to watch flag-to-flag coverage of each stage, take care knowing an insulated vessel full of Rise Up French Roast is close enough to watching today’s stage. Just don’t tell us who wins today’s stage, we haven’t stopped sipping the coffee yet.
