Known for riding off the front of group rides only to be caught in the first mile, we got back on a road bike and realized he must win the Donut Derby at least once in his life. Regularly pledging we’re "not climbers," we can be found as a regular attendee of Trexlertown's Thursday Night Training Criterium or sitting on the couch watching Paris-Roubaix reruns. We have been constant riders of the Hell of Hunterdon in New Jersey and raced the Tour of the Battenkill.

Review: The Coffee Fox Roasting Company Foxy Blend

Review: The Coffee Fox Roasting Company Foxy Blend

It’s not everyday we get coffee submitted from outside the creakybottombracket.com cycling area, but when a bag of The Coffee Fox Roasting Company’s Foxy Blend showed up at the office, we had to sample it. Here is what we thought:

Currently it’s berry season here. Nearby the farms are excitedly flying pick-your-own-blueberries signs. Just a few weeks ago it was strawberries. Stone fruits with absolutely minute growing windows like cherries and peaches have trickled in as well. To open a bag of Savannah, GA, The Coffee Fox Roasting Company’s Foxy Blend, seemed like perfected timing. With flavor notes of berry (check), toasted almond, and stone fruit (check), this seasonal blend had all the trimmings for early summer harvest coffee consumption.

It’s no secret cyclists love a solid breakfast. Maybe that’s why the Tour de France stages start late in the day- teams are enjoying the morning meal. It’s no different around the office as summer pickings find their way onto summer plates: blueberry pancakes or strawberries and cream waffle toppings. These dishes are accompanied by peaches and cream smoothies or cherry switchel. And of course, bright coffee to match the early sunrise.

The Coffee Fox Roasting Company Foxy Blend beans come from Ethiopia and Brazil to produce a clean-tasting medium roasted coffee, perfect for early summer.

The Coffee Fox Roasting Company, based in Savannah, GA, promotes their flagship Foxy Blend. This Ethiopian and Brazilian blend is served all day in their cafes. The flavors are bright and quenching. This is definitely a blend that can start the day right along with those flavorful morning plates. Further, we found more enjoyment having it cold brewed. No sooner did we make the switch to cold brew than the summer temperatures roared in. Immediately those hot rides took on a cooler start with Foxy Blend.

The summer heat will only continue, so it is safe to say The Coffee Fox Roasting Company’s first rate blend will come in handy early each morning. This is a great coffee to roast when the teammates are planning to show up as early as the sunrise for an all-day outing. Offered only in 12-ounce bags, this might be one of those bulk order scenarios to keep the alertness high for town sign sprints or for those ride finds when the wild raspberry bushes are just off the roadway. Or should the day be a wash, there’s still enjoyment in Foxy Blend and Tour de France stages on the television.
